Dr. Maryam Al-Dwairji is the Coordinator of the Clinical Dietetics Training Program in the Food and Nutrition Administration (FNA). She earned her medical degree from Faculty of medicine – Kuwait University in 2000. She completed her MSc Clinical Nutrition from Glasgow University in 2007 and PhD in Food Science and Nutrition from Leeds University in 2014. A registered nutritionist in the Association for Nutrition in UK since 2014. Some of her academic activities include oral and poster presentations in international conferences held in UK (nutrition society summer conference (2011,2012, 2013) and Italy (Healthy diet, healthy environment within a fruitful economy: the role of Fruit and Vegetables). Invited member in the Regional Committee Eastern Mediterranean – sixty-one session meeting in 2014 and a temporary WHO advisor for the technical consultation in salt and fat reduction strategies held in Tunis 2015. A member in the editorial committee of the periodic food and nutrition bulletin in the FNA since 2014. Her main work is to establish a nutrition research and teaching collaborations. Currently she is the leader for the KBOS project which is about the breakfast consumption pattern, nutritional status and lifestyle among Kuwaiti adolescence. Her latest publication titled as Analysis of dietary fibre of boiled and canned legumes commonly consumed in the United Kingdom in 2014. Her main research interest is the role of diet in prevention and treatment of childhood obesity.
